United States Ambassador Edward B. Lawson conferred today with Foreign Minister Golda Meir and Finance Minister Levi Eshkol on the economic aspects of Israel-American relation. It was understood that the subject of the discussion was the long delay in Washington on Israel’s request for a $75,000,000 loan from the United States Export-Import Bank.
Meanwhile, the Israel Cabinet resumed today a discussion of the proposed 1958-59 budget which was not completed at the regular Sunday session. Mr. Eshkol estimated that the combined regular and development budgets for the next fiscal year would come to 1,160,000 pounds. Last year the budget was set at 969,000,000 pounds but two deficiency appropriations raised it another 158,000,000 pounds.
