Raymond Hare, U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, who the State Department today said has been in continuing contact with the Egyptian Government on the reported mistreatment of Egyptian Jews, will arrive in Washington on January 13 for consultation. It is believed that he will bring personal word on the Egyptian Jewish issue although that is not his reason for coming.
State Department spokesman Lincoln White said today that Mr. Hare has “expressed the concern of the American people and government over these reports of anti-Jewish actions) and has urged the adoption of moderate policies. But, Mr. White added, the United States was still without details as to the facts of the reported discrimination, whether it has abated, or what steps Ambassador Hare urged for moderation. He indicated PLANES the United States did not have sufficient information. to confirm the existence of reported discrimination.
