The Public Works Department of the Tel Aviv municipality announced plans today for an express highway between Tel Aviv and the new port of Ashdod. The department said it had given an order to an American firm to work with Tahal, Israel’s Water Planning Corporation, to prepare a survey of such a roadway. The highway plans call for an absence of any intersections and minimum high speeds for users. It has not yet been decided whether the road will be built by use of private financing or be paid for by tolls.
