The president of the International Court of Justice has extended to September 2 the time limit for the United States to file a memorandum on claims in the shooting down by Bulgaria of an E1 A1 plane on July 27, 1955, it was announced today. The United Kingdom was granted a similar extension by the International Court.
The two countries and Israel filed suit against the Bulgarian Communist regime for the deaths of their nationals aboard the airliner. Israel has received a number of assurances from the Bulgarian regime that the damage claims would be met but the assurances have not been implemented.
