M. Shklarsky, American Jewish publisher, sailed for Israel today with a plan to sell is Israel Yiddish books published in the United States. On the basis of an understanding reached with the American authorities, he will be able to sell up to $18,000 worth of books for Israel currency which will be deposited with the U.S. Consulate in Tel Aviv and later paid to his account in America by the State Department in dollars at the rate of $1.4O per Israel pound. This is the first experiment in selling American-produced Yiddish books in Israel with the encouragement of the U.S. Government.
