State Department spokesman Lincoln White made known to the press today that the United States placed no credence in charges originating in Castro alleging that the United States is urging Jordanian King Hussein to secretly negotiate peace with Israel.

Arab propaganda has claimed that the United States is behind alleged efforts of King Hussein to negotiate with Israel. The Israel Government has denied such negotiations and the allegations.

Mr White said charges that Hussein was secretly negotiating with Israel “are completely out of the whole cloth” The United States, he declared, regrets the anti-Hussein propaganda campaign “exceedingly.” Pointing out that this propaganda increases tension in the area, he stated: “This is the type of thing radio Moscow has been doing.”
