The National Conference of Jewish Communal Service, an organization of Jewish social workers, today announced the formation of a planning committee for the purpose of arranging an “Israel Workshop Tour for Social Work,” in Israel, in the spring of 1953. Louis H. Sobel, of New York, is the chairman of the committee. Charles Zuner, well-known social worker and former president of the National Conference, has been chosen as leader of the group.
The workshop tour has been initiated on invitation of social workers of Israel in cooperation with the Berl Katznelson Institute at Kfar Saba, which will be the home and campus of the group. Plans are being made in Israel for the six-week program of visiting Israel’s social welfare institutions, meeting with social work leaders and practitioners, and touring the country. The trip will begin on March 21 and Passover and Israel Independence Day will be spent in Israel.
