American Jewry will give “unstinting support” to the Palestine Jews “in their every attempt to demonstrate to Great Britain that its action is intolerable and unacceptable,” Dr. Solomon Goldman, president of the Zionist Organization of America declared today in a statement as chairman of the all-party National Emergency Committee for Palestine.
Declaring Great Britain “shamelessly reverses itself” in its White Paper and denouncing the policy as an attempt to reduce “a growing, flourishing land to a ghetto,” Dr. Goldman asserted that the act “must offend the conscience of the civilized world.”
The committee called for a nation-wide manifestation against the plan, featured by synagogue services this Saturday, to make American Jewry’s voice heard before the Parliamentary debate next Monday. Dr. Goldman asked synagogues and organizations to arrange for Sabbat services at which a special ceremony will include taking of the biblical oath, ‘If I forget thee, Jerusalem, may my right hand wither.’
