Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz was honored at a testimonial dinner last night sponsored by Farband, national fraternal labor Zionist order. More than 400 leaders of the Zionist group who attended the tribute at the Hotel New Yorker purchased $250,000 in Israel bonds in honor of Dr. Schwartz.
Meyer L. Brown, president, and Louis Segal, secretary of Farband, joined in praising Dr. Schwartz “as one of the most distinguished Jewish leaders of our time.” They paid tribute to his service “on behalf of the Jewish people during the past two decades during which he has been a key figure in the rescue and resettlement of masses of Jewish refugees overseas and a leading figure in rallying support for the building of the State of Israel.”
