A half million volumes of Nazi propaganda arranged in 150 sets have “disappeared” in the destruction of Nazi literature by Allied forces after the war, it was revealed here by Verner W. Clapp, president of the Council on Library Resources.
When Nazi propaganda was destroyed, it was decided to save 100,000 titles of racist and militaristic propaganda for the future writing of the history of Nazism. This material is now “missing,” Mr. Clapp, a former Assistant Librarian of Congress, disclosed. He advertised for an historian to write this chapter of the Nazi story in the hopes that such a scholar would unearth the volumes.
