Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, acting U.N. mediator for Palestine, has officially invited six Arab states to come to Rhodes for armistice negotiations with Israel, the headquarters of the U.N. announced here today.
The formal invitation to the six Arab states, except Egypt, which is already conducting armistice negotiations, was issued by Dr. Bunche on January 30. It asked the six states to undertake within 10 days negotiations, under the chairmanship of the United Nations, on implementation of the Security Council’s cease-fire resolution. The invitation said that a decision whether the negotiations will be held separately or collectively would be left to the discretion of the Arab states.
