U.S. Middle East envoy Dennis Ross is scheduled to leave for the Middle East in the coming days to work with Israel and Palestinians on the implementation of the Wye agreement. On the eve of Ross’ departure, State Department spokesman James Rubin praised Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat in the wake of death threats from Hezbollah and Hamas terrorists. Despite these threats, Arafat “appears ready, willing and able to follow through with his commitments and we certainly applaud that courage.”
