The U.S. Navy’s newest and largest destroyer escort has been named the USS Bronstein in honor of a Jewish Navy doctor who was killed in action during World War II. This is the second ship to be named for Lt. (j.g.) Ben Richard Bronstein; the first fought in numerous engagements during the war and was transferred to the Uruguayan Navy in 1952.
