State Department spokesman Lincoln White said today the United States was not, to his knowledge, selling arms to Egypt at this time. He added that he would have to check on the current status of economic and technical assistance to Egypt.

The Suez Canal issue was believed discussed today when Israel Ambassador Abba Eban met for over an hour at the State Department with George V. Allen, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs. Mr. Eban declined to say if the Israel arms application was taken up. The Ambassador described the meeting as a periodic review of general and specific questions.

Because of the Suez crisis, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles cancelled an appointment today with Irving M. Engel, president of the American Jewish Committee. The meeting was scheduled for this afternoon. The American Jewish Committee leader was to discuss the Arab-Israel situation with Secretary Dulles.
