American customs officials here today withdrew the charge that officials of the International Refugee Organization had certified documents covering “illegal shipment” of goods from Germany to Israel, Reuters reported.
Last Friday American customs officials impounded the Israeli freighter “Dromit,” bound for Haifa. She carried a cargo ranging from tractors to complete machinery for a shoe manufacturing plant–all labelled “household goods.” It was stated last Friday that “an I.R.O. official” had certified the shipment. Today’s announcement said no I.R.O. certification appeared on the documents.
