Characterizing the United States as “a land of minorities,” George N. Shuster, associate editor of Commonweal, tonight credited this country’s “amazingly good government since George Washington’s time” primarily to “the balance which exists between the minorities which make up the population.” Mr. Shuster was one of three speakers who addressed a large general session of the 66th annual meeting of the National Conference of Social Work at Broadway Auditorium here Solomon Lowenstein, executive vice-president of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York City, was among the other speakers on “The Call of Our Great Traditions.”
