The presidents of the National Council of Churches of Christ of America and the Synagogue Council of America, joined with Protestants, Catholics and Jewish leaders today to commend the national chairmen of the Republican and Democratic parties for keeping the recent election campaigns “free from appeals to racial and religious prejudice.”

The religious and lay leaders, who received assurances from the chairmen of both political parties last August that bigotry would be kept out of the election campaign, stressed that the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates of both parties in their utterances regarding racial and religious groups were “clearly true to American ideals.”
