The convention of the Rabbinical Council of America which is taking place here, today adopted a resolution calling upon the Soviet Government and the governments of other countries behind the “Iron Curtain” to permit the emigration of Jews to Israel. The Council represents 512 Orthodox rabbis from about 200 communities.

The rabbis also adopted a resolution calling upon the United Nations to speed peace between Israel and the Arab states. The resolution pointed out that “continued internecine attacks by the Arab rulers on Israel are a menace to world peace and the relationship between Moslems and Jews.”

The convention also called upon the Eisenhower Administration to further demonstrate its friendship for Israel and its confidence in the future of the state by encouraging and continuing the policy of substantial American grants-in-aid for the development of Israel resources.

The social justice commission of the Council today proposed that labor and industry invite rabbis to help settle industrial disputes. The commission’s report was given by Rabbi Uri Miller of Baltimore. It stated that the Orthodox rabbinate has “a paramount interest in the field of social and justice.”
