U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.), known for her fierce criticism of Israel, lost her primary bid for re-election. McKinney lost a runoff race to Hank Johnson, who won 59 percent of the vote. McKinney, the first black woman from Georgia to win a seat in the U.S. Congress, stirred anger among her constituents for controversies, including an altercation earlier this year with a Capitol police officer.
