U.S. Rep. Matt Salmon (R-Ariz.) introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives calling on President Clinton to declare that a unilateral declaration of Palestinian statehood would not be recognized by the United States. Clinton has hinted that his administration would adopt such a policy, saying that Palestinian statehood is among the issues to be discussed in the final-status talks between Israel and the Palestinians.
