U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright criticized the “repugnant and unacceptable” anti-Semitic statements repeatedly made by Palestinian officials on their official television network and in Palestinian newspapers. In response to a question from Rep. Benjamin Gilman (R-N.Y.), chairman of the House International Relations Committee, Albright said that she and President Clinton “will continue to press them to eliminate that kind of rhetoric from their media.”
