U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat next week in New York. After a series of pessimistic statements from U.S. officials, Albright said the United States is “hopeful we will be able to move toward an agreement.” Meanwhile, U.S. Middle East envoy Dennis Ross extended his visit to Israel until Saturday to continue his negotiations with the two sides.
