U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) said she had been assured by Swiss officials that needy American Holocaust survivors could start receiving payments as early as this spring from the Holocaust Memorial Fund. The $190 million fund, which was established last year by Switzerland’s three largest banks, has already made payments to survivors in Latvia and Hungary.
