The United States expressed its stock today at what it called an anti-Semitic “act of violence” in Paris. “We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic and despicable act of violence,” State Department deputy spokesman Alan Romberg said. “Our hearts go out to the families of the victims. The United States deplores this cowardly act and understands it is by far the worst anti-Semitic incident in Paris in recent days.” Romberg added that “we hope that the perpetrators of this crime are brought to justice swiftly.”
