U.S. government sources agree with reports from Moscow that Soviet Jewish emigration in the first six months of this year was slightly lower than during the corresponding period in 1972. “Diplomatic sources” in Moscow were reported as disclosing that in the Jan.-June period this year Jewish emigration was 15,000 of which 2400 emigrated in June. The American sources said they did not yet obtain a figure for June but by accepting the Moscow statistics their total would be 14.830.

In the first six months of 1972, the Americans said, emigrants totaled 15,500 while in the entire year the emigration was 31,500.
