The United States Government, indirectly through partial subsidies given student exchange programs, and Arab governments through outright grants, aid Arab students in this country to “disseminate propaganda hostile to American policy and interests, and favorable to the Soviet Union, it was charged here today by Arnold Forster, general counsel of the B’nai B’rith Anti Defamation League.
Mr. Forster voiced his accusations against the Arab students in a report dealing with the increase of Arab propaganda in this country. The principal student group, he declared, is the Organization of Arab Students, which has expanded as activities to the campuses of 30 universities and colleges in this country.
At a meeting here of the national council of the Joint Defense Appeal, Philip E. Hoffman, of Newark, was elected chairman of the council. The JDA–which conducts the annual fund-raising drive for the American Jewish Committee and the ADL–is currently seeking $5,600,000 in a nationwide campaign.
