The American team in the Maccabiad, in which 1,200 Jewish athletes from twenty-seven different countries are participating, scored 84 points today, the highest for the day. The South African team followed with a score of 39 and the Palestine team was third with 33.
All indications point to the fact that the American team will win world championships in the Maccabiad.
Miss Lillian Copeland of Los Angeles, who won the women’s shot-put championship yesterday, today set the Maccabi record for the discus throw with a heave of 37.38 meters.
Miss Sybil Koff of New York, who yesterday won the 60-meter dash, today repeated her victory in the 100-meter race.
