Governor Leverett Salton stall urged Americans not to allow “a foreign-born spirit of hatred to destroy our American unity.” Six hundred Catholics, Jews and Protestants attended the dinner, held at the Boston Chamber of Commerce under the chairmanship of Chief Justice John P. Higgins of Massachusetts Superior Court.
