Mr. Hull told a press conference that conditions in central Europe were developing and that he could not undertake to comment at the present stage. Reports from Vienna, he said, were fragmentary, indicating there were uncertainties ahead.
Asked if the United States would close its legation at Vienna, Mr. Hull repeated that conditions were not at the stage where he could comment. He said that the German and French ambassadors, at their Saturday conference with him, did not make any requests of this Government. A spokesman for the Austrian legation said there was no information from abroad.
