The Federal Government announced that no further financial assistance on federal housing will be given to projects which practice religious or racial discrimination. The Federal Housing Administration’s anti-discrimination clause has been defined as a step forward in the implementation of President Truman’s civil rights program.
(A nationwide campaign for fair housing practice policies to remove the threat of discrimination and civil rights invasions in the slum clearance and urban redevelopment program authorized by the National Housing Act of 1949 was launched by the New York State Committee on Discrimination in Housing at a special “action conference” in New York.)
