A three-day conference of the women’s division of the American Friends of the Hebrew University on the status of higher education in Israel, the Middle East and Africa was closed here today with a ceremony marking the initiation of charter members into the division’s new honor group, the “Society of the Book.”
More that 700 persons attended the conference which was addressed by G. Mennen Williams, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Mrs. Michael Comay, wife of Israel’s permanent representative at the United Nations, and others. Mrs. Comay praised the work of the Hebrew University in Israel and among new Asian-African nations.
