U.S. ZIONISTS CONDEMN MASS ARRESTS OF JEWS IN RUMANIA
The American Zionist Council, in a resolution adopted today, condemned the wholesale artists and imprisonment of Jews in Rumania and called upon the Rumanian Government to release them immediately. The Council acted in behalf of all the Zionist organizations in the United States with a total membership of 750,000 persons. The resolution reads:
“The American Zionist Council records its profound shock and indignation at the fresh wave of anti-Jewish persecutions now sweeping Rumania. Hundreds of Rumanian Zionists and Jewish community leaders have been arrested and flung into prison without trial on the sole charge of having assisted their brothers and sisters to emigrate to Israel.
“The American Zionist Council denounces the Rumanian Government for reviving the crudest excesses of the Iron Guard against Rumanian Jewry. It calls upon men and women of goodwill in all countries to join in world-wide protest against this latest example of totalitarian brutality inflicted on freedom-loving people and demands their immediate release.”
