Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, chairman of the American ?mist Emergency Council, today sent a message of support to the three Jewish mayors ?d the 30-old Jewish leaders seized in yesterday’s mass arrests. Also sent to the wish Agency in Jerusalem for transmission to the detainees, the message reads:
“The entire Zionist movement of the United States joins in this expression solidarity with you in your moment of tribulation. The Palestine Government’s il##igal act in arresting you without warrant is the latest example of the contempt for ##v and justice now prevailing among British authorities in the Yishuv. We are consident, however, that this most recent provocation to further violence, aimed at plitting the Yishuv, will fail as ignominously as have similar acts of the past. land firm and be of good cheer.”
AMERICAN BRITH TRUMPELDOR PROTESTS OUTLAWING OF GROUP IN PALESTINE
A protest against the outlawing by the Palestine Government of Brith Trumpeler or, Revionist youth organization, was issued here today by the American section of the organization.
Pointing out that the Brith Trumpeldor of Palestine was legalized by the government upon its creation in 1923 and that its sole purpose was “to educate Jewish youth in the country in the spirit of the truly democratic and militant Zionism,” the statement says: “Britain’s assault upon the rights of the Jewish national youth movement will not frighten the Jewish youth in Palestine and throughout the world, and the legitimate struggle of the Jewish people for a free democratic state in Palestine will not be stopped by such acts.”
Members of the Congress of American Women today picketed the British Information Service in protest against the turning back from Palestine of the 4,500 Jewish refugees who arrived there on the “Exodus-1947.”
