The United Jewish Appeal announced today that more than 3,000 Jewish leaders from all over the United States will convene in New York Dec.11-14 for the UJA’s annual national conference to analyze the needs of world Jewry in preparation for the 1970 campaign. Edward Ginsberg, of Cleveland, Ohio, general chairman of the UJA, said the 1970 drive will be crucial to Jews in Israel and in lands where Jews are oppressed.
“It has always been the traditional responsibility of world Jewry to meet the humanitarian needs of the people of Israel,” he said. “Because of the crushing defense burden the Israelis must shoulder, our response must be overwhelming so that the human needs will be met,” he said.
