A forecast that the 1954 United Jewish Appeal will close with cash proceeds of $120,000,000 from both the regular campaign and consolidation loans was voiced here today by Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal. Dr. Schwartz arrived here with the 35-man UJA study mission, which will begin its business meetings at noon tomorrow.

He termed the results of the 1954 appeal a “striking endorsement by Americans of Israel’s determination to live in peace, build its freedom and strengthen its economy,” and noted, in particular, that American contributors are pleased to know that their dollars helped the Israel Government reduce the number of burdensome short term debts incurred to meet the critical situation arising from Israel’s first tidal wave of immigration.
