Following participation in a somber tribute to victims of the Holocaust, members of the United Jewish Appeal Spring Cash Mission vowed to return to their home communities and work with renewed vigor to meet a national cash goal of $100 million by June.
Standing in the shadow of Israel’s memorial to the martyrs and heroes of the Holocaust at Yad Vashem. UJA national cash chairman Gerald Colburn said, “We pledge to help build a strong homeland so that Jews will never again have to suffer such an unconscionable ignominy, “Stanley Berenzweig of North Jersey. Leo Lichter of Milwaukee and Shep Waldman of Philadelphia, representing the Cash Mission, laid a wreath at the Yad Vashem Memorial.
The UJA Cash Mission was in Israel on an eight-day fact-finding trip for the purpose of gathering information on the needs of the people of Israel. Jewish Agency officials briefed the group. Participants will apply what they’ve learned to accelerating the current fund-raising campaign, leading up to the national closing date on June 6.
