The Council of Organizations of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York today pledged its support to the people of Israel in their determination to make their land a haven for the needy and oppressed.
The meeting, the 15th annual gathering of representatives of some 7,000 benevolent, fraternal and “landsmanschaften” groups with a combined membership of over 1,000,000 persons, pledged its support in a resolution which decried the attempt of the Arab states to overwhelm and destroy the Jewish State. The gathering, which heard Avraham Harman, Consul General of Israel, formulated plans for active participation in the 1954 UJA campaign.
