One hundred twenty-five top leaders of the New York Women’s Campaign for the United Jewish Appeal-Federation of Jewish Philanthropies Joint Campaign Tuesday wound up an Overnight Leadership Conference whose purpose was “to tune in to the Jewish world in greater depth,” according to campaign chairman, Mrs. Emanuel Gantz of Harrison.
Mrs. Gantz told the UJA-Federation women that “Jewish life is always changing and we must keep informed on what’s happening in order to be better able to bring our message to others. Education is an on- going necessity.” The women had come to the Harrison Inn to plan for the launching of their 1976 campaign to raise funds to supply human needs to Jews in Israel, other lands abroad and in Greater New York.
They discussed New York’s fiscal crisis, the threat of diminished aid to institutions that deliver human services, the effects of recession and inflation on local services, and how these factors will affect the funds they need to raise in order to maintain the 130 Federation facilities in the city. In addition, they explored ways of disseminating information to others in the Jewish community on Israel’s interim agreement and what the country’s human and social needs are.
