More than $1,000,000 in cash gifts was contributed to the United Jewish Appeal last night at a regional conference of the U.J.A. of New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware. The pre-campaign gifts were made following an appeal by national U.J.A. leaders who characterized the situation of the Jews in Iraq as “completely desperate” in addressing the 300 Jewish leaders from 42 communities. The chief speaker was Rep. Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., 1950 chairman of the National Christian Committee of the U.J.A.
