Two of the leading members of the Jewish community have been appointed to important municipal commissions by Mayor Thomas A. Tully. Joseph H. Ullman, brother of the late Col. Isaac M. Ullman and Major Louis M. Ullman, has been appointed to the board of fire commissioners, succeeding president John T. Sloan; and Alexander Cahan has been named to the board of education.
Mr. Ullman is one of the leaders in the Republican party of this city, and is a member of the Republican Executive Committee for this district. Mr. Cahan is a graduate of Yale, and as a civil engineer is known to be an expert in his field, and is now doing specialized work for Yale University.
