The General Assembly approved today without a vote a recommendation by its steering committee to put the problem of air terrorism on the agenda of the Assembly. The issue will be debated in the Special Political Committee. The approved item, titled “Safety of International Civil Aviation,” was proposed during the weekend by a group of 42 countries, in the wake of the recent hijacking of a German Lufthansa jet to Mogadishu, Somalia, and the murder of its pilot. The rest of the hostages were later rescued in a West German commando raid. According to sources here, the debate in the Political Committee could begin this week.
