The Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations voted yesterday to give the Women’s International Zionist Organization (Wizo) special status along with a number of other organizations having a consultative relationship with the UN Economic and Social Council. The status for Wizo was voted by Tanzania, United States, United Kingdom and Uruguay against the objections of Libya, the Soviet Union and Bulgaria.
