The Jewish Undertakers Association of Greater New York, whose activity was placed under investigation by the Attorney General’s office, due to public charges that its rates were excessive and that its methods of competition were unfair, has dissolved. The first hearing was held last month.
The dissolution of the organization was authorized last Monday, it became known at a hearing Thursday. Announcement was made by George Goodstein. Assistant Counsel for the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association.
Mr. Goodstein declared that the association was guilty of no offenses but the inquiry was ordered in order to satisfy public criticism.
The dissolution of the organization will not, however, bring the inquiry to a halt, it was announced by Deputy Attorney General William B. Groat, Jr. who stated that the investigation would be continued until the Attorney General’s office is satisfied that no violations of the law have taken place.
