Reporting yesterday’s seizure of the town of Myszlenice by a band of anti-Semitic marauders, Jewish newspapers today charge it was executed by uniformed Endeks (Nationalists) who entered and left the town in military formation.
The marauders, estimated at 150 in number, stole 17 rifles and 700 cartridges from the police, whom they disarmed at the outset of the invasion.
Seven Jewish shops and two truckloads of merchandise were destroyed by the invaders, who had taken the precaution of cutting all telephone and telegraph wires. One Jew, a baker’s assistant named Leib Wachsberg, is reported to have been injured. The District Commissioner’s home was completely wrecked.
Myszlienice, which is not far from Krakow in West Galicia, is a town of 6,200 inhabitants, of whom 2,000 are Jewish. The raid was executed at four a.m. yesterday, but news of it failed to reach Warsaw until late at night.
