A record budget of $1, 095, 372 for the year 1958-59 was adopted here last night by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations at a meeting of its board of trustees. The Union embraces 560 Reform congregations in the United States and Canada.
The budget includes expenditures for office maintenance, salaries and programing. Some of the major items call for allocation of $375, 000 to maintain the Union’s 17 regional offices, $75, 000 for religious education, $12, 000 for adult education, $35, 000 for the establishment of new congregations and “winning unaffiliated Jews to synagogal life,” and $101, 000 for youth activities.
