A record budget of $1,533,000 to serve the 575 reform temples of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations was unanimously adopted today by the organization’s board of trustees for the fiscal year of 1959-60.
The acting chairman, Judge Emil N. Baar of New York, declared that this year’s budget “marks an increase of 40 percent in expenditures for the programs of our movement to serve the 1,000,000 members in our synagogues.” The chairman of the board is Judge Solomon Elsner of Hartford, Conn.
