A closed pre-convention meeting of the executive board of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations this afternoon ushered in the three-day 38th council of the UAHC, which is meeting concurrently with the fifteenth biennial assembly of the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods and the tenth biennial convention of the Federation of Temple Brotherhoods.
The convention will be officially opened tomorrow morning at the Hotel New Yorker by Robert P. Goldman, president of the UAHC, The opening session will also be addressed by Mr. Adolph Rosenberg, president of the UAHC, who will also present Rabbi Maurice Eisendrath, recently appointed director of the UAHC. Tomorrow afternoon a round-table session of presidents and rabbis on rabbinical pensions will be held and also a symposium on the “Pillars of Our Faith,” which will feature addresses by Rabbi Leon Fram of Detroit, Henry Monsky, president of B’nai B’rith and Rabbi Alexander Steinbach of Brooklyn.
