The United Arab Republic complained today to the United Nations that Israel has continued to send armed forces accompanied by agricultural machinery, “penetrating ” Arab lands and villages east of Lake Huleh and within the demilitarized zone near the Syrian border.
Several clashes have occurred as a result of Israel’s action, according to the UAR letter which was addressed to UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold,
The UAR letter charged that a UN truce observer in the zone had “failed to do his duty,” but the chief of the UN Truce Supervision Organization has ordered Israel to halt its development work. The Israelis, it added, refuse to comply with the request.
