Marcos Maus of Mexico City was presented with the United Hias Service Award of Honor by Murray I. Gurfein, president, at the worldwide Jewish migration agency’s headquarters here in recognition of his outstanding role in assisting refugees from Cuba, with the cooperation of his colleagues on the United Hias Service Committee of Mexico, “to realize their hopes and aspirations for a new life in freedom.”
Mr. Maus, chairman of the committee and a leader of his country’s Jewish community, organized a group of top leaders of Mexican Jewish organizations who are helping these refugees in Mexico until they are able to move on to the United States with United Hias assistance.
