The income of the United Israel Appeal in the year ending last September 30 was $45,000,000, of which $30,000,000 came from the United Jewish Appeal in the United States and $15,000,000 from the UIA-Keren Hayesod in other countries, Dr. Israel Goldstein, world chairman of the UIA, told a press conference here today.

He said the UIA was now preparing a new campaign, and that there was a “fair chance” that income in the current fiscal year would be higher than in the preceding year, despite a decline in migration to Israel of which non-Israeli Jewries were aware.

He reported that the UIA had set up special projects in recent years through which homes for aged immigrants, kindergartens, youth centers and similar institutions were linked directly with the names of donors. Such projects brought in $5,600,000 during the past five years to the UIA, mostly from Britain.

He also said that the UIA’s funds had been transmitted to the Jewish agency, expenditures of which for immigration and agricultural settlement alone for the past fiscal year had totaled $55,000,000. He said a substantial part of the deficit had been covered by the Israel Government.
